How to Listen to Long Emails in Desktop Chrome

A long email can contain an entire project brief: background, decisions, open questions, and a request buried near the end. If you want another way to review it before replying, you can turn the relevant text into audio.
In Liso, the reliable route is to copy the message text and paste it into a new highlight. This guide uses desktop Chrome on Mac or Windows. It is a selected-text workflow, not an inbox integration: Liso does not automatically fetch your messages or follow a conversation as new replies arrive.
Choose the message before you copy
Start with one email rather than the whole thread. Open the message containing the information you need, then select its body text.
Check the selection for repeated quotations from earlier replies, signatures, and confidentiality notices. An email chain can contain the same paragraph several times. Copying everything may produce a repetitive listen while making the latest decision harder to find.
Keep any context necessary to understand the message. If a reply says "the second option works," include the passage explaining the options, or add your own clearly labeled context before generating audio. Do not turn an ambiguous reply into a definite decision by guessing.
Create a listen from the email
- Copy the email text you are entitled to submit to an external service.
- Open your Liso library in desktop Chrome and sign in.
- Choose + New highlight and paste the actual message text.
- Check the beginning and end of the pasted selection. Remove duplicated quoted material without changing the sender's meaning.
- Add a descriptive title, such as "Website brief: feedback before Friday."
- Choose a voice and select Create audio.
- When generation finishes, press Play and keep the email open for reference.
The optional Source URL field does not import an email. You can leave it blank, particularly if a private inbox link contains information you do not want to store with the listen. Keep the original message in your mail account as the reference.
Can you use the Chrome extension instead?
For a page that supports normal text selection and Chrome's context menu, you can select the message text and choose Listen with Liso after installing and pairing the Liso Chrome extension.
Webmail interfaces can have their own selection behavior or right-click menus. If the Liso action is missing, use the copy-and-paste route above. Do not assume that installing the extension connects your inbox to Liso or gives it an automatic queue of unread mail.
Listen for the request, then check the details
For a project email, make a short written note of three things while listening:
- What is the sender asking you to do?
- Which deadline or dependency affects your reply?
- What still needs clarification?
Those are questions for you to answer. Liso narrates submitted text; it does not extract tasks, send replies, or verify the sender's claims.
Check names, dates, amounts, and links visually before acting. A spoken URL is not a substitute for inspecting its destination. An attachment is also separate from the message body: selecting an email does not import an attached document. Keep private messages private
Email often includes other people's personal information. Do not submit passwords, authentication codes, sensitive account details, or restricted work messages. For business email, confirm that your organization permits sending the selected content to an external text-to-speech service.
Liso sends submitted text for audio generation; it is not an entirely on-device reader. Read the privacy policy, remove unnecessary identifying details, and skip this workflow if the message should not leave your approved mail environment. If copying is restricted, do not try to bypass the restriction.
A saved listen is a snapshot
New replies and edits do not update existing audio. If the conversation changes, review the latest message and create a new listen only if useful. A title containing a date or version can help you avoid revisiting an outdated instruction.
